On March 19, 2022, Stuart Baggaley passed away at 96.
Stuart was a long-time resident of neighborhood, and a valued member of the OHMHA board from 2005-2010. A native of England, Stuart served in that country’s Royal Air Force as a radio operator during World War II and was stationed in Norway at the end of the war. While wearing a WWII veteran hat Stuart met then Vice President Biden who gave him a “command coin”.
Stuart moved to Ann Arbor over 60 years ago in the late 1950s, and worked for many years at the University of Michigan as well as with an attorney and two other local businesses. In addition, Stuart started a successful student rental business in the 1970s.
Stuart was an avid runner who competed in a Detroit marathon and several Dexter-Ann Arbor runs. He also loved travel, and his adventures took him and his wife Amy to China, Singapore and throughout Europe.
Later in life Stuart developed a unique scoring system for the game Mah-Jongg, and then taught the game throughout the area.
Stuart leaves behind his widow Amy Seetoo, who currently serves on the OHMHA board. Stuart was a wonderful neighbor, friend and board member, and we send our condolences to Amy and his family.
