Steve Stancroff writes:

I have lived on Bluett Road for 25 years with my wife, Tamar.  I am an attorney specializing in consumer protection law and Tamar is a clinical psychologist.

We've had the pleasure of raising our three sons in the neighborhood.  They attended Clague and Huron and really enjoyed while growing up swimming in the OHAC pools and skating on Thurston Pond.

I am looking forward to serving on the board and learning more about the make-up and needs of our community.

Brad Pritts writes:

I was honored to be asked by several current board members to consider serving.  Let me introduce myself briefly.

Personally… I am 67 years young and have lived in the neighborhood (on Lexington) since 1994. We originally came to Ann Arbor in the mid ‘70s to attend graduate school at you know where, where I earned an MBA and my wife Susan her MLS (Master’s in Library Science).   We fell in love with the area and stayed.   We have one adult son Bradley William who attended the local schools, Thurston, Clague and Huron, as well as U of M.  Aside from a few years in the early 1980’s I have worked outside the area – mostly in Oakland County – as a consulting engineer specializing in automotive quality, engineering and environmental management. While not an attorney, this role has given me experience in study and compliance with legal and regulatory issues as well as technical matters.  While still working I am in a process of staged retirement.

I have served on several boards in the past, including five years with Saline Area Players community theater, and the Pastoral Advisory council at our parish which though not a board has many similar aspects.  I currently sit on the board of Fresh Start Coffeehouse, a startup in Monroe with the mission of operating a coffee shop for the purpose of providing employment and job training for the formerly incarcerated and recovering communities. (https://www.freshstartcoffee.house).  I was briefly involved in the project to convert OHAC pool to a tax exempt organization.  I have also been active as a Boy Scout leader (cubmaster of Pack 160 at Thurston and assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 8, formerly based at St. Thomas Parish). (Fellow OHMHA Board member Jerry Schulte’s son Mark was a distinguished alum, having earned the Eagle award, along with many other youth from the neighborhood, all young adults now.)  I’ve also spent quite a bit of time backstage as a volunteer lighting designer for Ann Arbor Civic Theater and a few seasons with the Thurston Players.

I am interested in and follow city politics.  I often differ with other Ann Arbor folks on things - particularly national issues -- but do my best to be respectful.   I try to bring more light than heat to these discussions, focusing on facts and data.  As a result I sometimes ask tough questions like, “how can we afford this great idea?”.  I expect that to be an area where I will focus my service.  And, I look forward to meeting more of you!

John Gaffield

John Gaffield writes:

My parents (Tom and Jeanette Gaffield) built the house on Georgetown Blvd in 1964 when I was 1 year old. I grew up here and after a few years away, I moved back in 1992 and purchased the home from them in 1994. Up to about 20 years ago, I was involved in the Ann Arbor Jaycees including being on the board of directors. I held various positions including, director, newsletter editor, and management VP. I was also on the Ann Arbor Jaycee Foundation board with various positions including treasurer and president. With this, I have had experience with 501c4 and 501c3 organizations. As I mentioned this was 20 years ago, but I expect it can come back.

Many of my evenings can be somewhat free as long as I know when events will be scheduled. There will be some appointments in the evening, but they are planned ahead of time.

I have been an automotive engineer working with Ford Motor Company since 1994. I was part of the Visteon spinoff in 2000, but I came back to Ford in 2006. I plan on retiring in a few years depending on the economy. I am married to Carrie Gaffield and we have two sons, Kenneth (19) and Erich (15).

My hobbies include photography, flying my drone, woodworking, and gardening.

Connor Concannon writes:

I am relatively new to the neighborhood. My wife, Emma, and I moved here in early 2019 with our young sons, Jack and Robert, from New York City. Since then, we have felt lucky to live in such an amazing community. Most days you will find us either swimming at OHAC, biking to Thurston, walking our dog, or just playing in the yard.

I am originally from the Chicago suburbs, and Emma grew up just across town. I work as a data scientist for a legal technology startup, and Emma works for the university as a research administrator. I am looking forward to serving on the board and contributing to the OHMHA community.
